課程概述 |
In recent decades, the explosive growth in new data and analytic methods makes the interdisciplinary research more potential to solve challenging problems in social domains and challenging us to redefine our understandings of what it is to be human. By combining an understanding of culture from anthropology, rational choice theory from economics, ideology from political science, laboratory experimental methods from psychology, and social networks from sociology, researchers will be able to tackle questions that are not fully answered before (Buyalskaya, Gallo, & Camerer, 2021). This course aims to address challenges in advancing our scientific understanding of human behavior, and translational applications of this knowledge to the areas of marketing, consumer behavior, and other areas in business. |
課程目標 |
During the first part of this course, we will introduce methodologies in behavioral research that will aid students in designing, conducting, analyzing and presenting experimental research. In the second part, we will discuss major substantive topics addressed by experimental social science. |
課程要求 |
Major aspects of this course will be discussion of original papers. Students are required to be prepared, attend class, participate in discussions, and contribute to in-class demonstrations.
Students will conduct an original experimental study. There will be a number of structured assignments and milestones leading to the planning, execution, and presentation of this research. |
